“My wife’s ability to have a good night’s sleep had gradually worsened with age – both falling asleep, and staying asleep.  As soon as she closed her eyes, her brain seemed to become overactive with a miscellany of thoughts.  She tried many remedies, to no real effect.  She had reached a stage where she did not expect to fall asleep after going to bed.  Desperate to get some help for her, I decided to look for a hypnotherapist in our area, and that’s how I came across Karen at Hylands Hypnotherapy.  My wife’s had two sessions with Karen, and I was present for each.  The main areas covered were breathing and relaxation, and connecting a “preparing-for-bed” activity with an anticipation of sleep.  Following the treatments, I think it’s fair to say that my wife’s sleep has improved, both in falling to sleep initially and getting to sleep again after waking in the night.  That’s not to say that she doesn’t still have some sleep problems, but she now expects to go to sleep, in contrast to her previous negative associations with going to bed.”
