Hypnotherapy for Fears and Phobias.

Are you struggling to fully enjoy life because you have a fear or phobia of something?

Do you dread certain situations, places or people because you have a fear or phobia of them.

Perhaps you want to go on holiday, but your fear of flying means you can’t look forward to it.

Maybe you really need to clean out the shed, but there might be spiders in there, possibly big ones too!

Is it that you have a child’s birthday party to attend, and you’re beginning to worry that there may be clowns there?

At Hylands Hypnotherapy, I help people with anxiety, stress and panic attacks by working with the unconscious mind – the part of the brain responsible for habits, behaviours and emotional triggers. Hypnotherapy teaches you how to control the adrenalin production so you can calm down on request.

Can I Really Overcome my Fear or Phobia?

Yes, as soon as you enter the hypnotised state you will feel more relaxed. This is a state you will already have been in that morning as you were waking up. You will also learn how to calm yourself down in any situation which might normally cause you to be afraid or which you have a phobia to.

How Does Hypnotherapy for Fears or Phobias Work?

Hypnotherapy is a very relaxing process, this helps you start in the right state to deal with your fear or phobia.

We will discuss your phobia or fear and the effect it has on you. If you struggle to even discuss it we will start very slowly. I will explain what the role of adrenalin plays in these situations. Then you will learn how to control the production and breakdown of the adrenalin so you can feel calm.

Hypnotherapy helps you practice controlling the production of adrenalin in a safe environment. Thus you can feel more in control and be able to live your life to the full.

What My Clients Say

I am incredibly grateful to Karen for the support she gave me through hypnotherapy. I had a long-standing fear of belly buttons that felt especially daunting during pregnancy. Karen taught me practical strategies, including calming breathing exercises and relaxation techniques, which helped me feel grounded and in control. Using these tools, I was able to cope calmly as my own belly button changed throughout pregnancy and, later, to feel completely at ease when dealing with my baby’s belly button. What once caused anxiety became something I could handle with confidence. The impact has been truly life-changing, and I can’t recommend Karen highly enough.”

Meet Karen Baker

That’s me.

I’ve been a clinical hypnotherapist since 2008 and have helped people with fears and phobias for many years. For some clients just one session is enough, for others it takes a few sessions. I love the fact that the hypnotherapy process itself is relaxing, so I see an improvement in clients immediately.

Ironically, the reason I first became interested in hypnotherapy was because my then boyfriend successfully quit smoking through hypnosis. At the time, I was very sceptical – despite having a degree in Psychology. He basically nagged me, over three months, to look into it!

Once I began training, I quickly understood how powerful the connection between the unconscious mind and behaviour can be. From day one, I loved helping people create positive change in their lives.

Why Do My Clients Succeed?

Fears and phobias can be irrational. It doesn’t matter where they came from, or what caused them. What matters is that they are affecting your life and how they are affecting your life.

I’ll teach you how to handle your fear or phobia, so its no longer a big deal. It will become something you mostly forget, but if you suddenly remember, you can be the one in control.

Once we’ve found what works for you, you can practice this under hypnosis. We recreate the situation which induces your fear of phobia and completely control your reaction to it. We keep doing this until it becomes second nature.

FAQs

Can I claim my treatment on my health insurance?

Yes, you can with some insurance companies. I’m registered with CNHC, so check your policy.

Will I be able to drive after my hypnotherapy session?

Yes, you will be fine to drive, assuming you could drive before the session. You will feel lovely and relaxed and will have time to feel normal, before you leave.

You won't be able to get me into a hypnotised state.

I have heard this a few times, some people are certainly more difficult than others, but everyone is able to reach that day dream like state which is needed for hypnotherapy to be successful.

It’s the state you were in as you woke up this morning and as you drifted off to sleep last night. The bit between being asleep and fully awake.

Can you help me learn to control my fear or phobia?

I can help people who want to change their behaviour, I cannot make you do anything you don’t want to, or help you change if you have just been told you need to. If you are ready to change, yes, I can help you.

Where do hypnotherapy sessions take place?

Generally speaking, it’s best if you come to me, so the environment is quiet and there are no interruptions from family or friends.
