EMDR for Trauma, Stress, anxiety and panic attacks.

You’re suffering with stress, anxiety and panic attacks, possibly from an accident, being involved in a natural disaster, or a conflict. You’re struggling with everyday life because these feelings are overtaking you. Perhaps you feel you’re missing out on life, saying, “No” when you want to enjoy yourself, but it’s stopping you.

It’s time to process those traumatic memories and take back control of your life.

The theory behind EMDR Therapy is that when a trauma occurs the associated traumatic memories become stuck – ‘frozen’. These frozen memories can lead to PTSD and Panic Attacks.

How Does EMDR Therapy Work?

Studies have shown that stimulating the brain on both sides, at the same time helps to release these memories, so they can be stored like non-traumatic memories.

This bilateral stimulation the brain, mimics what happens in REM (Rapid Eye Movement ) Sleep. It is during REM sleep that our memories are normally processed and filled away, for future use.

Can I Really Take Back Control of my Life and How I Respond to Triggers?

With the help of EMDR Therapy you can process the triggering memories and remove the traumatic response to them.

Can EMDR Therapy Help me Stop Having Panic Attacks?

By helping to remove the strong emotional/psychological response to your triggers, yes. EMDR Therapy can process your traumatic memories so they can be filed like less emotive/traumatic memories. Therefore they will no longer trigger you into having a panic attack.

Meet Karen Baker

That’s me.

I’ve been a clinical hypnotherapist since 2008 and have helped people overcome stress, anxiety and panic attacks for many years. Over the years I’ve been able to help clients, but I have sometimes wondered if there was something more I could do. I researched and found how successful EMDR Therapy is for treating PTSD and Panic Attacks. Everyone’s triggers are different, so the number of sessions you will need will depend on you.

I love seeing the difference I can help clients make in their lives. To finally stop having panic attacks and take back control of their lives,

Why Do My Clients Succeed?

It’s not an easy process and it requires commitment. You don’t have to re-live the life event which originally caused your trauma, just create a picture relating to the trauma and hold this in your mind whilst doing the bilateral stimulation of the brain to distract it from the picture.

The techniques you learn in the sessions can be used in the real world to help you deal with any anxiety you feel.

We work together at your pace, we don’t move on until you’re feeling comfortable to.

FAQs

Will I be able to drive after my hypnotherapy session?

Yes, you will be fine to drive, assuming you could drive before the session. You will have time to feel normal, before you leave.

You won't be able to get me into a hypnotised state.

I have heard this a few times, some people are certainly more difficult than others, but everyone is able to reach that day dream like state which is needed for hypnotherapy to be successful.

How would EMDR Therapy work for me?

Everyone is different and I would take time to find out what your situation is. Together we would then plan out a treatment path, which works for you.

Where do EMDR Therapy sessions take place?

Generally speaking it’s best if you come to me, so the environment is quiet and there are no interruptions from family or friends.

If you prefer to stay in your own home, it is possible to hold sessions remotely.
