Quitting Smoking and Vaping

Quit Smoking or Quit Vaping Now

Are you ready to take control and breathe fresh air, letting go of all the toxins in cigarettes or vapes?

We all know the health risks associated with smoking—and increasingly, vaping. But, knowing the risks doesn’t automatically make quitting easy. For many people, smoking or vaping has become a deeply ingrained habit or coping mechanism. This is why deciding to “just quit”isn’t that simple.

Do You Want to Quit?

The most important starting point is this: you have to want to quit, not just feel that you should. Hypnotherapy cannot make someone do something they don’t genuinely want to do. You may have seen stage hypnosis shows where people appear to behave in unusual ways. Those participants are always willing volunteers. They are happy to go along with the suggestions which will make them look daft and entertain the audience. Hypnotherapy works in exactly the same way—it supports your goals, it doesn’t override your free will.

Gathering Information is Key

When decide that hypnotherapy could help you quit smoking or vaping, the process begins with a detailed and information gathering. When you come to see me, I’ll ask a range of questions. These will help me understand why you’re smoking or vaping and why you want to quit. This includes why you started, what has kept you smoking/vaping, and what you like least about it. This is to understanding your unique relationship with cigarettes or vapes.

Creating A Positive Personalised Plan

Using this information, we work together to create a personalised plan. The goal is to strengthen your resolve and reinforce your decision to quit by using positive, empowering language and imagery. This is important because the brain doesn’t process negative instructions in the way we expect it to.

Let me give you an example:

If I ask you not to think about the pink elephant in the room.

Chances are, the first thing you did was picture a pink elephant? Then you tried to push it out of your mind. This is how the brain works.

So instead of saying, “I don’t want to smoke anymore,” which still focuses on smoking. We reframe it positively, for example:

“I’m enjoying a healthy lifestyle with fresh air in my lungs.”

This gives your mind something constructive to move towards, rather than something to fight against.

The Hypnotherapy Process

Once we are happy with your positive plan, then I will relax you. This will be into a lovely state like you were in before you fully woke this morning. You’ll still be in control, you’ll hear what I’m saying and all the other noises around you. Your mind may wander and you may daydream. This is perfectly normal, you don’t have to actively listen to every word. Once relaxed, your unconscious mind will be listening and taking on board the messages, for when you’re fully conscious.

For many people, smoking or vaping has become more of a habit than a pleasure. Often, it’s something done automatically—during breaks, while driving, after meals, or in stressful moments. It can be helpful to think ahead about what you’ll do with the extra time you gain as a non-smoker. Also think about what you can do with your hands instead of holding a cigarette or vape. These small practical changes can make a big difference in breaking old patterns.
