Hypnotherapy could help you overcome your fear of open spaces.

Hypnotherapy could support you to overcome your agoraphobia, or fear of the outdoors.

Do you have a fear of the great out doors?

Have you a preference for staying indoors?

Perhaps you find yourself declining invites from friends and family?

Would you rather stay in and have people come to you?

Covid changed our perception of what it was ok to do. For some of us the repercussions are still causing difficulties. Is it time to start enjoying all life has to offer again?

When you think about going out, how do you feel?

Do you feel sick and sweaty? Do your thoughts race? Can you feel your heart racing and your breathing is fast and shallow?

What is causing you to feel this way?

These symptoms are due to adrenalin being produced by your body. This is your body’s way of keeping safe from danger. When we were hunter gatherers, we had to decide whether to run or stay and fight when facing danger. These dangers don’t exist now, you could be enjoying so much more.

What does Adrenalin do to the body?

When adrenalin is produced, it prepares the body for fight or flight. It sends the blood to the major muscles, so they are strong and ready. It diverts this blood from areas like the digestive system. This is why you feel sick, breathe rapidly, have a dry mouth. Less blood goes to your brain, so you can feel lightheaded. You become sweaty.

What can you do to stop this?

By simply taking control of the speed of your breathing, you can stop the adrenalin being produced. Once no more adrenalin is being produced then the circulating adrenalin can be broken down. To break down all the adrenalin in your blood stream, it takes just three minutes. This means, that if you can control your breathing for three minutes, you will be feeling normal again.

What is hypnotherapy and how can it help?

Hypnotherapy itself is a really relaxing process. During a session you will learn how to relax. This will help you learn how to control your breathing and stop the adrenalin being produced. We will practice this technique, until you feel comfortable doing it yourself when necessary.

During a session, you are always in control.

What is the hypnotised state?

The hypnotised state is a state you were in as you woke up this morning and will be in as you drift off to sleep again tonight. Its the bit between being fully conscious and being asleep.

In this lovely relaxed state, we can practice making you feel anxious, panicked. Then we will practice using what you have learnt to calm down and stop the adrenalin being produced.

Practicing while hypnotised helps to implant the technique firmly in your unconscious, so it is ready to use when you need to.

Hypnotherapy can help you change your response to venturing outside and enjoy all life has to offer.
